The object of the research is millet (Panicum miliaceum). The millet varieties Galinka and Belorusskoe were selected by the Scientific and Practical Center for Arable Farming of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The results on the study of the comparative analysis of the reaction of these varieties to the method of sowing are presented. The advantage of the forming of millet grain at wide-row method of sowing is shown; while for green material these varieties should be cultivated by drilled sowing method. This is explained by differences in the rise of photo-synthesizing surface of leaf area, which is defined both by varietal peculiarities and growing space.
