Provision of the animals with energy is one of the main factors determining the level of their productivity. In the theory of animal feeding the problem of energy consumption takes an important role. For energy nutritive value evaluation it is necessary to analyze the content of exchangeable energy. For determining of nutritive substances digestibility and exchangeable energy consumption the expensive experiments should be carried out. Therefore some backhand methods, based on general characteristics of animal nutrition, for nutritive value determining are suggested. Energy value of hay fodder crops after the soil development is determined on the base of laboratory research of biochemical composition of the fodder. The content of total energy in nutritive substances of hay fodder is evaluated upon raw protein, raw fibre, fat and non-nitrogenous extract substances. Energy ratio of hay fodder made of perennial cereal and fabaceous grasses is evaluated. It is established that complex use of technological methods f soil improvement during meadow reformation enables gaining more energy valuable hay fodder crops from fabaceous and cereal grasses.
