In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus in 2007-2008 in the Institute for Fruit Growing (Belarus) there was studied a residual effect of keeping of Belarusian selection apples (Malus) of Alesya, Verbnaye, Zaslavskoye, Imant and Charavnitsa cultivars. Fruits were stored in two gas media: standard regulated gas medium (RGM) (3-4% oxygen, 3-4% carbonic acid, 92-94% nitrogen); and RGM with ultra-low oxygen content (ULO RGM) (2% oxygen, 2% carbonic acid, 96% nitrogen). After withdrawing from keeping fruits were placed in a room with a constant temperature +18 deg C for the determination of rational terms for fruit consuming without considerable changes of consuming qualities. The keeping indexes were tested immediately after withdrawing and in course of two weeks further with interval of 2 days. The significant influence of cultivar features on the 'residual effect' of fruit keeping was not confirmed. The time of sale after withdrawing from storage influenced on duration of this parameter. The 'residual effect' of fruits of the studied Belarusian cultivars was about 4-5 days with permissible loss rate because of natural mass decrease and different diseases. The keeping in RGM was favored for maximum of healthy fruit cast. The fruit stored in ULO RGM had the least natural mass loss.
