In course of the research there was studied accumulation of root mass and nutritive elements in the following leguminous grasses: goat's rue (Galega orientalis L.); alfalfa (Medicago sativa); bird's-foot trefoil (Lotus cornicutus L.). The research was realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus in Polesye Institute of Plant Production on sod-podzolic loamy sand soil. Crop sowing was realized in 1997 (Galega orientalis - wide-row method, Medicago sativa, Lotus corniculatus - row method). Agrochemical characteristics of soil plow horizon: pH (KCl) 5.78, humus content – 2.0%, P2O5 – 209 mg/kg of soil, K2O – 187 mg/kg of soil. As a result of realized studies it was revealed that productivity of dry matter of Galega orientalis on the average for 5 years of use has formed 13.3 t/ha. On the 6 year after sowing there was stated 13.6 t/ha of dry matter of root residual. The variants with application of P60K90 in combination with manure and without it showed in the highest mass of roots. In root residues there was marked 302-325 kg/ha of nitrogen, 99.4 – 102 kg/ha of phosphorus and 169 179 kg/ha of potassium.
