At the beginning of this century, particularly after 2003, a decline of forest stands with Picea abies occurred at the Forest District Jablunkov in the Silesian Beskids, Czech Republic. This decline is of complex character caused by abiotic, biotic and anthropogenic factors. The following measures were proposed: chemical adaptations of the soil environment, i.e. liming or fertilization, changes in species composition (lower proportion of Picea abies trees and higher proportion of Fagus sylvatica trees) and an increase in tree species diversity, modification of the rotation (decrease) and regeneration period (increase).
