For this study we used 40 white and iberian sows and 10 new born piglets in order to isolate and identify acid lactic strains from colostrum in sows and from meconium and gastrointestinal mucosa and content in new born piglets before the first intake of colostrum. The obtained pure cultures were characterized morphologically and identified by means of PCR and sequencing. Other biochemical properties were studied using the 50 API CH tests that allowed grouping them based on their metabolic profiles. The obtained isolates with possible probiotic potential corresponded to Lactobacillus reuteri and Enterococcus faecium.
