Tech-economic evaluation of windmill construction for Irrigation in the green area of southwest in Tehran

Electric pumps used for irrigation are among the most consumers of electricity causing a lot of expenses on Tehran municipality, amounting to both electric and maintenance charges.Use of windmill in the area of southwest in Tehran for replacing with electrical pump has low maintenance cost and without any social_environmental costs. Based on processing of metrological data of Mehrabd and Imam Khomayni airports using WINPRO, the tech_economic evaluating for establishing the windmill in KANOON GOL VA GYAH (KGVG) in 20th zone of Tehran is analysed in this paper. Herein, it is evaluated that the present value cost of installation and operation of windmill is 88.5 million Rials against 233.8 million Rials of electric water pump. Therefore, the use of windmills in place of electric pumps is strongly recommended in KGVG.
