A number of P.P. snakes were collected from various parts or Iran and were milked. The characterization tests were Taken in order to world Health organization protocol (1) as fallows. 1- The PH of fresh venom measured and showed about 5.54-:!:.0.1 2- The solution of the venom dried and the average amount of venom per snake determined as 38 mg/snake. 3- The total protein detemtined by Folin - Lowery method, it contained 94.5% ofthe venom. 4- The lethality Dose (LD50) of venom was determined by injectiny 18-20 gr. mice and calculated by Speaman - Karber method, the LD50 was 13.9 mg/mice. 5- The molecular weight of proteins of the venom was determined by Laemmeli method (6), it was betWeen 38000-83000 D 6- Phospholipase A2 activity measured by smith (8) and ouyang (7) methods the results showed activity of 91 % 7- (MHD) test, different concentraiton of venoms solutions injected interadermally into rats. after 24 hours the animals was killed and the diameter of the lession was measured, the results shov:ed 12. 8- (MND) test, was the same as for MHD, except that the skill was removed 3 days after interadermal injection of venom, the result was 25. 9- (MCD) test. different amount of venoms were mixed with human cit/'ate plasma in 37 QC it didnot showed any clothing activity in 60 seconds. 10- (MDD) test. different amounts of venom injected to 4 mice and the mice were bled by cardiac puncture, the result shawed that P.P. venom has no datiny activity within 60 minutes. ,
