In this study, density, compression strength, modulus of elasticity and bending strength of grey alder (Alnus incana (L.) Moench.), common aspen (Populus tremula L.), and hybrid aspen (Populus tremuloides) wood grown in Latvia in the different types of forest growth conditions were investigated. Wood moisture during testing was from 11 to 13 %. Testing of physical mechanical properties was carried out by using standard methods. Obtained results show that average physical mechanical properties indicators of grey alder (Alnus incana (L.) Moench.) wood (moisture content 12.6%) are as follows: modulus of elasticity - Eb = 10632 MPa, bending strength - fb = 81.0 MPa, compression strength - fc = 33.8 MPa, density - ρ = 467 kg.mE-3. The average indicators of common aspen (Populus tremula L.) wood (moisture content 12.1%) are as follows: modulus of elasticity - Eb = 12521MPa, bending strength - fb = 83.9 MPa, compression strength - fc =42.1 MPa, density - ρ = 466 kg.mE-3. The average indicators of hybrid aspen (Populus tremuloides) wood (moisture content 10.8%) are as follows: modulus of elasticity - Eb = 10050MPa, bending strength - fb = 66.5 MPa, compression strength - fc = 32.6 MPa, density - ρ = 384 kg.mE-3.
