Response of different upland rice varieties to different fertilization protocol under banana-based cropping system

This study was conducted to determine the response of two upland rice varieties, Palawan Red and Pinilisa,to different fertilization protocol under banana-based cropping system. It was laid out following the factorial in Randomized Complete Black Design, where variety served as Factor A(V1-Palawan Red and V2-Pinilisa)and fertilization Protocol as Factor B(F0-control, F1-ISU Protocol, F2-Farmers' Practice and F3-Based on soil analysis)with three replications. Results showed that the variety as a single factor did not affect the plant height, number of unproductive tillers, length of panicle as well as the 1000-seed weight, however, variety as a single factor gave a significant effect on the number of productive tillers, number of filled grains, number of unfilled grains, grain yield(t/ha)and show yield(t/ha).The number of productive tillers, length of panicle, number of filled grains, number of unfilled grains, seed weight, grains yield tons per hectare and straw yield exhibited significant difference among the different fertilizer protocol(Factor b)but did not show a significant effect on the plant height and number of unproductive tiller. The results show that the combination of Factor A(varieties)and Factor B(Fertilization Protocol)significantly influenced the length of panicle, number of filled grains, number of unfilled grains, and straw yield did not reveal significant effect on the plant height, number of productive tillers, number of unproductive tillers, 1000 seed weight and grain yield(t/ha)
