Results obtained on quantitative traits of five half-sib soybean families with the cultivar ZPS 015 as a common parent were presented in this thesis. The following genetic and statistical parameters: differences of mean values and components of variability, genetic and phynotypic coefficients of correlation and heritability were determined for the observed traits (plant height, number of nodes, number of pods, 100 grain weight and grain yield). The RAPD marker method was applied to genetically characterise parental components of these progenies, while the Spearmen's rank correlation coefficient was used to observed the interrelationship of the genetic distance between parents and traits of progenies. The differences of mean values of observed quantitative traits of five half-sib soybean familes were mainly significant. The greatest genetic and phenotypic variability was determined for the yield, number of pods, while the 1000-grain weight showed the lowest genetic and phenotypic variation. The highest, i.e. lowest heritability was determined for the plant height, i.e. grain yield, respectively. In accordance with estimated genetic correlation coefficients, the components with the most significant effect on the grain yield was the 1000-grain weight, followed by the number of pods and at last the plant height. The highest and the lowest genetic similarities between parental components of the observed progenies were established for the combinations ZPS 015 x ZPS 107 and ZPS 015 x L 90 14, respectively. The correlation between the mean value of the yield of the progenies and the parental genetic distance was medium strong, negative and insignificant.
