Numerous studies have shown that a mare can develop a uterine infection that causes significant economic losses in horse breeding. Assessment of the reproductive system in breeding animals in Serbia has been rarely carried out, however this is a common or compulsory practice in countries that have developed horse breeding. This paper describes the importance and different techniques for the use of double protected swabs in the diagnostics of bacterial infection of the mare uterus in order to improve their fertility.
