Based on the comparative analysis of the obtained data from investigating blood serum samples of hens for the presence of specific antibodies to Salmonella enteritidis by methods of competitive ELISA test and standard agglutination, it was determined that the cELISA test represents a more sensitive serological method. The competitive ELISA test proved to be a more sensitive diagnostic method than the standard bacterilogical methods of Salmonella enteritidis isolation from egg yolk samples of layer hens, because the use of cELISA test has shown the presence of specific antibodies both in blood serum samples and in the egg yolk samples from which the above-mentioned causative agent was not isolated.
