The aim of this study was to test the clinical effects, as well as biochemical and pathohistological changes in the brain tissue of Wistar rats with septic shock, induced artificially by ligation and needle perforation of the caecum, and exposed to the convulsive drug pentylenetetrazol (PTZ). Also tested were the potentially protective anticonvulsive effects of two general intravenous anaesthetics keramine and propofol.
