The pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) is an autochthonous oak species in Serbia. The objective of this PhD research dissertation has been to express individual and population variability of species by means of phenological, morpho-anatomical and chemical analysis on the framework of ecological conditions and recognize the opportunity for separation of categories within one species. The assumed research hypothesis has been that, with regard to the analyzed traits, significant differences exist between distant independent pedunculate oak populations developing in different ecological conditions. For the purpose of the research, 152 trees in 5 populations - localities have been singled out in ecologically distinct localities, in which this species exists autochthonously or it was once prevailing. With regard to morpho-anatomical leaf traits a significant interaction between individual trees and environment, as well as a significant difference between localities, has been confirmed. On the basis of the data obtained from the analyzed localities, it has been established that an pedunculate oak leaf in Serbia has a length of 11.7 cm, width 7.2 cm, petiole length 0.5 cm, lobe length 11.7 cm, stoma density 323.5 (number/square mm), stoma length 25.8 microm and stoma width 20.0 microm. The results of the chemical analysis confirm the significant differences between analyzed localities.
