Device for waste water treatment continuously functions in Subotica (Serbia) from 1975. During its operation, the plant has survived the modernization of refining technology; however, the achieved quality of treatment did not meet the rigorous requirements, which would be necessary for the preservation of Palic Lake. Namely, according to European directives Palic Lake is classified in the category of sensitive areas (A). The new line of water, which was designed by the European Directive 91/271 for the water utility, started is functioning on the 25th of May, 2009. The paper presents the results of the analysis, which were made in order to monitor the functioning of the Plant. The review of previous results, it can be concluded that the new plant has much better effect of purification of waste water, which is particularly refers to compounds nitrogen and phosphorus, which directly contribute eutrofization of Palic Lake.
