The paper discusses the basic characteristics and preconditions of cabbage production in the region of Cacak, which is the center of the production of this vegetable in the Republic of Serbia. Environmental conditions primarily climate and soil in this area favorable for the production of cabbage. In the villages surrounding Cacak cabbage production for all purposes is developed. The production technology is increasing modernizing and developing with special emphasis on the selection of assortment which is mostly of foreign origin. The key problem is the lack of contemporary storage spaces which is defining the placement and the performance on both domestic and foreign markets because the production from this region is more and more export-oriented. So the main task in the future will be the health correctness of the product and the development of contemporary storage spaces.
