Electrokinetic treatment of the galvanic sludge using the electrochemical and galvanic cell | Elektrokinetički tretman galvanskog mulja primenom elektrohemijske i galvanske ćelije

In this study we examined the possibility of conventional electrokinetic treatment of electroplating sludge as well as the application of galvanic instead of electrochemical cell. The following efficacies were achieved by using the electrochemical and galvanic cell, respectively: 45 and 43% for Ni, 43 and 16% for Cu, 30 and 27% for Zn and 46 and 38% for Cr. Although sludge is hazardous after treatment, significant metal contents were removed so the metal recycling can be accomplished. It can be also concluded that similar efficacies were accomplished after using galvanic and electrochemical cell for EK treatment.
