Productivity and biochemical qualities of grain of maize hybrid Rs 424, grown under conditions of organic agriculture

The investigation took place during 2007-2009 at the experimental field of The Institute of Agriculture and Seed Science 'Obraztsov chiflik' - Rousse with ecological forage crop rotation, including cultivation of soy-bean, spring oats, peas - vetch mixture for green fertilization and maize for grain under conditions of organic agriculture. The investigated maize variety was the semi-early hybrid Rs 424 from the group 400 - 499 according FAO, after predecessor peas - vetch mixture for green fertilization. The experiment was started after the block method in two variants - control (without fertilization) and fertilization with soil and foliar organic fertilizer 'Biohumus' in 3 replications, the harvesting plot being 35 square meter. The sowing of maize was in density of 50000 plants per ha. Technological schemes, according the requirements of the organic agriculture were applied during the crop growing in crop-rotation. Data analysis showed that maize grain yield obtained in the variant without fertilization (conditions of natural nutritive regime) average for the period was 2640 kg/ha with variation from 900 kg/ha in 2007 to 4260 kg/ha in 2009. The soil and foliar fertilization by the organic fertilizer 'Biohumus' showed positive effect on yield, being for the period average 17,8 % and varied depending on the climatic conditions in years. The biological qualities of maize grain, formed under conditions of organic agriculture average for the period were in the limits of the inherited disposition of the hybrid. The obtained forage grain was ecologically pure and could be used for feed of animals, bred under biological conditions.
