Humic preparations were obtained of high-moor peat with a degree of decomposition of 5-10%, using a peroxide-alkaline hydrolysis in presence of catalysts. Small plot experiments were carried out in 2002-2005 in the Tomsk Region on gray forest podzolic soil against a mineral fertilizer background (N30P30K30). Seeds and vegetative plants of spring wheat were treated by oxyhumate (OH) at seedling and tillering phases. The fungicides Dividend Star or Maksim were used as standards. Prevalence and development of root rot were no more (in some cases were less) than when using the fungicides. The treatment by OH had a positive effect on a number of rhizosphere microorganisms which consumed organic and inorganic nitrogen, phosphate and of phosphate-mobilizing bacteria. Wheat yields increased by 2.1-3.8 kg/ha under OH; a gluten content in grain increased by 3.3-5.0%. The use of OH, received of zeolite catalyst at a concentration of 0.005% was considered to be the optimal
