An experiment was carried out at Rahad Research Station Farm in seasons 2006/07 and 2007/08 with the objective of evaluating the efficacy of some insecticides for the control of jassid, Jacobiasca lybica (de Berg.) on eggplant. In both seasons, Devizinon 60% EC (diazinon) at 625ml/fed and Seviryl 85%WP (carbaryl) at 0.908 kg/fed significantly reduced jassid population compared to the untreated control and their level of control was comparable to that of the standard treatments and had the highest fruit yields compared to the other treatments. Carbof 3% G (carbofuran) at 3.3 g/hole significantly reduced jassid population for a period of 5-7 weeks before jassid population started to rise again and increased yield over the untreated control by 38.2%. Both Strike 500SC (diafenthiuron) at 0.3 L/fed and Starvin 85%WP (carbaryl) at 0.908 kg/fed significantly reduced jassid population and increased yield compared to the untreated control and their effects were comparable to those of the counterpart and the standard treatments
