The study deals with the determination of culmination discharges in association with the hydrologic efficiency of forest ecosystems in two small watersheds - Vajsov potok (watershed area Spov = 22,07 km2, forest cover 1% = 81,5%) and Kltipoch (watershed area Spov = 3,40 km2, forest cover 1% = 34,4%). These watersheds are situated in two geomorphological units: Štiavnické vrchy and Krupinská planina (Central Slovakia). The calculations of culmination flood discharges were accomplished using the SCS-CN method and by rainfall-runoff model HEC-HMS for the actual extreme precipitation amount from July 13, 1999. The calculation of culmination discharges were compared with actual culmination discharges in experimental flow profiles in torrents Vajsov potok and Kltipoch during extreme flood (July 13, 1999).
