Eating habits of adult snail-eating catfish (Pangasius conchophilus) were investigated in the part of Mekong River bordering Nakhon Phanom Province. The methods involved determining the stomach contents and comparing digestive tract length of the test specimens with the existing standard length. Analysis of the stomach content from forty-two test specimens of the catfish revealed the composition of the ingesta as follows. Mollusks, fish, insects, plants, and unidentifiable matter were found to constitute 52 percent, 16.8 percent, 15.2 percent, 13.5 percent, and 2.5 percent, respectively, of the ingesta. The comparative length of the gut of the test specimen versus the standard was found to be 1: 2.18 +- 0.50. These data are suggestive that although mollusks predominate in the diet of this catfish, the species can be grossly characterized as to be having omnivorous eating habits.
