Introduction, when it comes to fruit production, entails the transfer of generative, vegetative parts or entire fruit plants from one ecologic condition to another, with the aim of improving the cultivar composition or the starting material for plant breeding in the region. Introduction of new fruit cultivars and refreshment of the existing cultivar composition, represent an activity necessary for the development of fruit production in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main goal of this study is to examine commercially important morphologic and pomologic traits of 23 newly introduced apple cultivars in the municipality of Goražde, using multivariate statistical approach. During a two-year field trial (2008 and 2009), 17 morphologic and pomologic traits were observed on the previously mentioned newly introduced apple cultivars. The orchard used for the field trial is located in Goražde, 500 m from the center of the town. Principal component analyses (PCA) was performed on the data gathered during the trial. Using PCA, each of the analyzed apple genotypes was grouped in relation to every other, through traits that represent main sources of the overall variability. The application of such approach enabled identification of cultivars that have optimal values for traits sought by farmers, while having minimum deviation from the optimal values for other traits that are relevant to commercial production.
