In course of the research there was studied a system of white clover (Trifolium repens) varieties with different terms of maturity for hay and pasture use. The research was realized in the field conditions of the Republic of Belarus in 2006-2010 on cohesive loamy sandy soil, underlain by sands from the depth of 50-70 cm (humus content - 2.1%, pH - 5.6-6.0; content of P2O5 - 199-232 mg/kg; K2O - 201-254 mg/kg of soil. The development of the system of white clover varieties with different terms of maturity was completed: late ripening, high cultivar Volat with large leaves; middle-late cultivar Dukhmyany, high, with average size of leaves, for hay and pasture use; mid ripening cultivar Matvej, high, with average size of leaves, pasture-hay morphotype; early maturing cultivar Charodej with average sizes of laminae and height of the grass stand and of pasture-hay morphotype. White clover varieties having asynchronous rhythms of growth were well combined in one pasture mixture. The most optimum combination of varieties in one mixture was Charodej cultivar with Dukhmyany or Volat, as well as Matvej with Dukhmyany; this provided increase of the productivity of pasture herbage and even production of green forage during the growing season.
