Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome is a specific viral disease of swine, characterizing with disorder of reproductive function of adult animals and revealing with late abortions (90-100 days) and nonfertilization of female animals. Young species are born weak and ugly and often infected with respiratory organs diseases. Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome also causes disorders of cardiovascular system, digestive system (diarrhea) and nervous system deterioration (paralysis of the extremities). Disease causes high economic damage, resulting declining of the total amount of the live stock. Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome infection agent is a one-chain RNA-virus of Arteriviridae. Nowadays virus is divided on 3 types, consisting of 400 different strains. Vaccination is the most effective method of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome prophylaxis. For the vaccination live and inactivated vaccines are used. A short review of efficiency of some existing vaccines from different countries of the world is presented. Main advantages and shortcomings of different live and inactivated vaccines from U.S.A., Europe and Russia are enumerated. Analysis of the vaccines is made; their suitability for the conditions of the Republic of Belarus is evaluated. The necessity of a native vaccine development is substantiated.
