The effect of plant defense response to drought on selected yield parameters in barley

Three Czech spring barley varieties (Malz, Amulet and Bojos) were studied during two years (2009 and 2010) in order to establish the relationship between yield potential and the activity of the Dhn4 gene which is the main stress protein activated under drought stress. Higher activity of the Dhn4 gene was recorded in all the tested genotypes in the drier year 2009. The temperatures and relative humidity during the experiment markedly affected the relationship between plant response and yield.
