Training needs and constraints perceived by Angora rabbit farmers in Garhwal region of Himalayas

The present study was conducted on 420 rabbit farmers during 2003-04. The data pertaining to training needs of rabbit farmers were collected through a schedule. The results of study showed that training of various aspects of rabbit farming viz. brooding of newly born kits, housing and sanitation methods, feeding management and feed formulation, disease diagnostic methods and disease management, shearing and grading of wool and records maintenance were perceived as important and necessary by more that 70 per cent of the respondents. Among the constraints perceived lack of high yielding germ plasm, unorganized market system, high feed cost, lack of health care facilities, lack of wool storage facilities, non-availability of vaccines/ medicines and equipments, lack of support system by govt. and non-govt. agencies were ranked as most important
