Evaluation of technical and operational management problems of Ghanats structures in Hamadan-Bahar plain.

Ghanat is a major traditional structure of Iran that without use of energy and expense and damage to ground water resources, like a natural spillway only when water level reach a distinct elevation, conveys water to grand surface. Therefore protection of this water resource is essential especially in arid and semi arid areas that usually aspect with water crisis. For this reason in present research, operational management and technical problems in Hamadan- bahar plain were studied. For execution of this research, the present documents and statistical information were gathered then based of them 12 different ghanats were selected in 7 plain in Hamadan province for study. Then completed a questionnaire form for each of them in there areas. Finally conditions of discharge and quantity and quality changes of water of them geometrical dimensions were determined. Based on results, the main problems of ghanats in Hamadan province is destruction, dry and deserted of many ghanat due to groundwater level shortage and mean minus budget of -16.54(M.C.M), deficit budget of repair and maintenance, few support of expert well diggers, non clean, entrance of rubbish and sewage and public ownership. Based on measurements, the value of convince efficiency, mean discharge, roughness manning coefficient and mean longitudinal slope of canal are 82%, 30 lit/s, 0.02 and 0.25 percent in order. As well the value of salinity has been increased 30% in ten years. Water distribution system in ghanats with irrigation period of 8 days between landlords, was very exact.
