Collection, Identification, Maintenance, Evaluation, Regeneration and Utilization Genetic resources of Forest Trees and shrubs in Bushehr province.

In order to identification, collection and conservation of genetic resources of forest trees and shrubs a research project was carried out in Bushehr province from 2002 to 2007. First forest areas were surveyed from different point of views such as climate, topography and edaphic conditions. Then existing species were listed. Endanger, threatened, vulnerable and the most used species based on the recorded data were recognized. Several species with higher priority were selected to be studied. With in each species a number of plants were chosen per year for investigation in different regions of forest areas. Morphologic and phonologic characteristics were studied during growth season. The studied species during this research project were as follow: Albizia lebbek, Pistacia atlantica¡ P. khinjuk ¡ Calotropis procera ¡ Cordia dichotoma ¡Prosopis spp. ¡Acacia oerfota¡ Dodonaea viscosa ¡Tamarix aphyll and etc. At the end, 55 seed samples were collected on the studied species which belonged to 27 species, 24 genus and 11 family. All seed samples were dried, cleaned (sifted) and packed in linen bags. Finally seed samples for conservation in the best conditions and to study their characteristics such as determining seed type (orthodox, recalcitrant or intermediate), health and germination test were sent to Natural Genetic Resources gene Bank in Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands of Iran.
