Lorestan province was have to 3,352,608 Sheep and 6.51% of country sheep. The goal of this research was study on situation of fattening sheep in Lorestan province. In order to the first stage 120 industrial units and 200 traditional units were selected by stratified sampling methods during 2001 to 2003 years. In this study data of industrial and traditional units were collected by questionnaire and direct inter views methods then analysis of data was done by SPSS 11.5 package. The results showed that the most frequency of industrial units were Khorramabad city with 29.50% and the less of frequency in Azna city with 3.3%. Educational level of unit managers showed that 43.9 percentage illiterate and only1.6 percentage higher than diploma certificate . Average of medical and health cost for each weaning lamb of disease was during fattening 66780 Iranian Rials. In the second stage of research was done for direct studying of fattening sheep units. Among cities of province (10 city) were randomly selected 3 traditional and 3 industrial units, each so that between 80-100 fattening lambs. To determine frontier production function and technical efficiency units and effective factors on its, 76 units of sheep were selected in Lorestan province. Units were divided into three production capacity group consist of less than 50 stock, between 50 to 100 stock and more than 100 stock. Data were collected by questionnaire and direct interviews. Analysis of data was done by Front4 and SPSS 11.5 package. Cobb-Douglas production functions were estimated for units. In finally, data of units were analyzed with factorial experiment basis on completely randomized design. The results showed that management system effect was significant on the growth and fattening traits. The final weight was two system industrial and traditional units were significant difference with 48.61±5.18 and 45.92±3.78kg respectively. Base on feed conversation in two system industrial and traditional units were 6.38±0.88 and 9.22±1.88 respectively. The results showed the average of technical efficiency for industrial units was 51% that showed potential this increasing production. Correlation coefficients between technical efficiency with fattening initial weight, final weight, ADG and total gain in fattening period were positive significant. Pay attention to traditional fattening units in Lorestan province, it was necessary to improve management situation and to merge scientific information with existence facilities until to decrease cost of breeding sheep.
