The present study was applied to assessment of the effect of varying doses of progestagen on ovarian follicle growth in dromedary camel. Dromedary camels (n=20) were assigned randomly into four equally groups. The norgestomet treated groups, group 1, 2 and 3, received 1, 3 and 5 norgestomet implants respectively under the ear skin for 10 days (Day 0= Day of implant insertion). Camels in the control group (n=5) did not receive any treatment. Daily ultrasound examination was conducted to determine ovarian follicle status between Day -2 and +17. Mature follicle was defined as a growing follicle at the size of 13-17 mm in diameter. One and three camels from group1 and 2, respectively, did not have follicle wave throughout the experiment. No particular follicular growth pattern could be observed in the other camels. In other words, in some camels, new follicular emergence, follicle atresia, and change in the number of follicles did not follow any particular pattern. In conclusion, varying doses of progestagen, implanted for 10 days did not control ovarian follicle growth in dromedary camel.
