Study on distribution and infection level of citrus nematode (Thylenchulus semipenetrans) in citrus orchards of Kohgyloyeh va Boyrahmad province

Present survey was conducted during 2009 and 2010 in 131 citrus orchards of kohgyloyeh va Boyreahmad province, Iran. Abundance of the nematode was determined by random soil sampling around the citrus trees and roots and counting number of second stage juveniles (J2) in the 100 gr. of soil as well as females in 1 gr. of the root. 47% of the surveyed orchards were infected by the nematode and number of J2 was recorded from 0 to 2730 in 100 gr. of soil and 0 to 151 female in 1 gr. of root respectively. Citrus decline were seen in some infected and also non infected trees. However, this symptom was not seen in some infected citrus trees. All different cultivated citrus trees were infected by the nematode and it was not different between them in susceptibility to the nematode
