Genetic variability is a prerequisite for improving any crop plant in breeding programs. Being cultivated for a long in specific region, local varieties are adopted to that specific climatic condition. They also carry many useful genes, which can be used in breeding programs. The present study was undertaken to identify the genotypes desirable traits among local bread wheat genotypes belonged to the part of Iran. Total of 200 genotypes along local Sardary, and were studied. Each entry was sown in 2 lines of 2.5 m long. check variety was repeated after every 25 entries. During the crop season different agronomic traits were recorded. Seed characteristics were recorded after harvesting. Based on the preliminary results, 50 lines were selected. The selected entries will be further studied in the next season. From each entry, 5 spikes were also selected to grow as head to row to produce pure lines. Some entries were also selected as parents for use in crossing block.
