The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of microbiological products Trihodermin and Biomikss against Botrytis cinerea in lilies. The trial was carried out during the summer period (2009-2010) under open air conditions. Three cultivars – interspecific cultivar ‘Sonora’ (Lilium longiflorum x Asiatic cultivar), as well as Asiatic cultivars ‘Lolly’ and ‘Vīgante’ were tested. Two forms of Trihodermin and Biomikss were used: dry powder (103 – 105 colony formation units (CFU) per gram) and solution (107 – 109 CFU mlE-1). During the field trial, a dry powder form (10 kg haE-1) and a water suspension (200 L haE-1) treatments were replicated three times. The level of Botrytis cinerea infection was rated visually in grades (0=no visible damage – 4=complete infection). The results showed that the microbiological product use reduced spreading of Botrytis cinerea. Spray treatment with mixture of microorganisms - Biomikss was the most effective for reducing disease incidence under field conditions. The results indicated that it is important to start using microbiological products before the Botrytis cinerea infection has started to spread. This initial trial provided insight into the benefits of Trichoderma based products, and further evaluation is needed to discover their beneficial effect as microbiological products for plant protection.
