The transmittance of solar energy through greenhouse tomato plants depends on the value of the leaf area index and it shows the smaller values in the PAR range. The tomato plant is characterized by high absorbance in the PAR range, this having the significant effect on the plant photosynthetic production. Considerable reflectance and transmittance of irridiation in the near infrared prevents overheating of the leaf tissue by excess radiation, which might lead to inhibition of the photosynthetic process.
