Efecto del deficit de humedad y caracteristicas fisicas del suelo en el desarrollo del frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.).

An experiment was performed in Chapingo, Mexico, under greenhouse conditions with the following objectives: A; to estimate the reduction coefficient of evapotranspiration in beans due to changes in the moisture content of the soil (ksi) in different kinds of soils; B; to verify the relationship between evapotranspiration and yield in the beans crop, and C; to establish a methodology for the estimation of the rates of evapotranspiration and plant growth for different soil moisture levels. It was found a non direct relationship between soil moisture and evapotranspiration and that it depends on the physical factors of the soil and the evaporative demand of the atmosphere. Nevertheless, marked difference exists between "availability" and "exploitability" of the water. The relationship between dry-matter production and evapotranspiration is lineat, and the model found explains the influence of climate, soil and plant factors in dry matter production. In addition, the development of the crop was simulated, using a logistical model which explains the effect that the moisture levels, to which the crop was submitted, had on the rates of dry matter production and evapotranspiration.
