El trasplante de frijol inoculado con Rhizobium como estrategia para incrementar la fijacion biologica de nitrogeno en condiciones de secano.

La fijacion biologica de nitrogeno es una alternativa viable para la produccion de maiz (Zea mays L.) y frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) mediante el establecimiento de una simbiosis eficiente Rhizobium-leguminosa lo cual no es un proceso facil debido a la competencia entre cepas introducidas y cepas nativas del suelo. Se cuantifico la fijacion biologica del nitrogeno en la variedad de frijol Michoacan 12-A-3, establecida por siembra directa o trasplante en condiciones de secano. Se utilizo un inoculante multicepa de Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. phaseoli formado por las cepas CP Mex 1, CP Mex 2 y CP Mex 22. Los tratamientos en estudio fueron ocho, comparando el trasplante de frijol con el sembrado directamente. Las variables evaluadas al establecimiento del cultivo fueron, el numero de rizobia nativas en el suelo y la poblacion de rizobia en la turba y en la semilla inoculada; al inicio de floracion, se registro el comportamiento de las cepas introducidas en suelo, el porcentaje de nodulos producidos por las cepas introducidas y nativas, y el numero y peso seco de nodulos efectivos e inefectivos y la actividad de nitrogenasa. Los resultados indicaron que el sistema de trasplante supero significativamente al de siembra directa en el peso seco de los nodulos efectivos. En las demas variables no hubo diferencias significativas.

Biological nitrogen fixation is a viable alternative for corn (Zea mays L.) and dry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) crop production through the establishment of an efficient symbiosis Rhizobium-leguminosae; this is not a simple process due to the competition among introduced and native strains in the soil. Biological nitrogen fixation was estimated in dry bean cv. Michoacan 12-A-3, cultivated by direct sowing or by seedling transplant under rainfed conditions. A mixed inoculant of Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. phaseoli conformed by the strains CP Mex 1, CP Mex 2, and CP Mex 22, was used. There were eight treatments including direct seeding and seedling transplanting. The following data were collected when plants were established: number of rhizobia in the soil and in the inoculated seeds; at the flowering stage, it was estimated the behaviour of the introduced strains in the soil, the percentage of nodules produced by the incoming and native strains, and the number and dry weight of effective and ineffective nodules, as well as nitrogenase activity. Results showed that the transplanted seedlings had a significantly higher effective nodule dry weight than the directly sowed seeds. For the remaining traits there were not significant differences.
