Evaluacion de resistencia de 30 genotipos de maiz a Sitophilus zeamais (Coleoptera:Curculionidae) en laboratorio.

Los propositos de esta investigacion fueron seleccionar genotipos de maiz con niveles aceptables de resistencia a Sitophilus zeamais Motsch y determinar si la proteina, el triptofano y/o la lisina son fuentes de resistencia. Asumiendo como criterio principal la perdida de peso del grano, los genotipos Ejura (1) 7843Q, P11 dia 1'90 y P1 dia 2'89 como los mas susceptibles, y a el P7 dia 1'90, Tlaltizapan 8667 y el S86P15Q3 como los mas resistentes. El contenido alto de proteina se correlaciono positivamente con el numero de insectos muertos, sugiriendo antibiosis. En los genotipos P7 dia 1'90 y palomero existe un factor de antibiosis (relacionado o no con el contenido de proteina). En la muestra y en la proteina el triptofano se correlaciono con el numero de insectos muertos, lo que indica una asociacion de este aminoacido con una disminucion en la mortalidad.

The purposes of this research were to select maize genotypes with appropriate resistance levels to Sitophilus zeamais Motsch and to determine whether or not the protein, tryptophan and lysine are resistance sources. Assuming the weight loss of grain as the main criterion in this research, the genotypes Ejura (1) 7843Q, P11 day 1'90 and P1 day 2'89 were the most susceptible and P7 day 1'90, Tlaltizapan 8667 and S86P15Q3 were the most resistant ones. The high content of protein positively correlated with the number of death insects, which suggests a general effect of antibiosis. A probable factor of antibiosis was observed (related or not with the content of protein) in the genotypes P7 day 1'90 and Palomero the tryptophan is correlated with the number of dead insects.
