Potential for expansion of frozen vegetables in Western Victoria.

The prospects of meeting proposed increased requirements for peas, beans and sweetcorn for a McCains Pty Ltd processing plant at Ballarat, Victoria is investigated. It was concluded that the vegetable production areas within acceptable trucking distance offer the necessary climatic and soil conditions to meet the requirements. The potential to expand production of these crops in western Victoria appears only limited by markets and industry infrastructure.
