Amino acid supplementation of low protein and high copra meal diets for starter and finisher broiler diet.

Results of the study showed that the amino acid supplementation, the weight gain and feed conversion efficiency of the birds were significantly affected with starter diets but not with the finisher broiler diets. However, amino acid supplementation greatly influenced the protein efficiency ratio and final weights for both stages of the birds. Moreover, the study shows that broiler fed with lower crude protein diet with amino acid at 18 percent for starter and 16 percent for finisher performed better than those given the corn-soy rice-bran diet without amino acid at normal crude protein requirement 20 and 18 percent, respectively. Twenty and 30 percent copra meal inclusion with amino acid were not significantly different from the corn-soy-rice bran diet without amino acid supplementation. The total average dressing percentage of the birds with amino acid was higher but not significantly different than the control diet without amino acid. Likewise, other organs like the liver, gizzard and heart were not affected with amino acid supplementation except for the spleen. Organoleptic evaluation of birds showed no significant differences among the treatments. Coefficients of digestibility of nutrients in the starter period were not significantly different among treatments but not in the finisher period.
