The region Ostros, Montenegro (Yugoslavia), is situated between the Adriatic sea and the lake of Skadar on 200-250m above sea level, having the surface of about 500 hectares. In this region, the haematuria vesicalis chronica cancerogenes bovis is constantly present and every year several head of cattle get ill. It occurs in all seasons, but only at cows having more than two years. The causes of the disease could not be found, but there are several hypotheses (fern, climatic factor, radiations, pararadiations etc.). Former cure has not given encouraging results. In most cases the affected head have been coercively slaughtered, for the economic reasons.
