Methodology : the focused group, key informant and participant observation were employed in collecting data, the respondents were those of committee members of the group, local leaders, group members and villagers. Conditions of the area : Tambon Sripan consists of six villages, transportation within the Tambon is relatively comfortable, all households were electrified. Group execution : group had been executing accordingly to the guidelines provided by the Community Development Department. The four executing committees were composed of 20 committee members responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling. Important success : group was successful in organizing villagers into group, the number of members was increased evidently every year. Prospect : Group plans to run rice bank business, construction of rice mill, marketing service for basketry members and revising the loan regulation to be more flexible to members. Using a time-series forcasting technique, the number of members was estimated to increase at 11 members per year. By 1993, the group members would be 183, with 245, 285 baht of savings. Effects on rural development : Villagers who were members of group of production credit, had higher income, higher rate of income increase, higher savings and higher investment than those who were non-members of the group, there was no significant difference regarding awareness of self-help, participation, deligence, democratic way of thinking between members and non-members villagers.
