The response of fourty six different tomato varieties and hybrids to Fusarium oxysporum F. sp. Lycopersici was studied. It was found that four tomato varieties were highly resistant, six were resistant and twelve seemed to be susceptible. The remaining twenty four varieties reacted as highly susceptible plants (showed more than 50% infection). An antagonism between the fungus and tobacco (tomato) mosaic virus (TMV) was detected. Infection with any of the two pathogenes partially protected the plants against subsequent infection with the other one.
