The crucial objectives of the thesis are: (1) to study and estimate the time trends of Thai population growth, labor force and occupational characteristics relating to employment and unemployment; (2) to examine the important factors affecting the structural changes in population, that is, changes in birth, death and migration; and (3) to assign the appropriate agricultural and non-agricultural development plans for regions and the whole nation. The results of the study are summarized as follows: (1) Approximately three fourths of the total Thai population including labor force and unemployed labor are in the agricultural sector. (2) For non-agricultural sector, the total population, labor force and unemployed labor have been increasing by an increasing rate. (3) Most labor in the non-agricultural sector were employed in service, commerce and manufacturing. The important factors affecting the changes in birth, death and migration of Thai people are per capita income, degree of agricultural and non-agricultural development, number of students, number of medical doctors, family planning service, and so on. The results of the study, for example, in the agricultural sector indicate that a one percent increase of per capita income results in 0.73, 0.09 and 7.28 percent decreases of population's birth, death and migration, respectively.
