The objectives of these studies were to evaluate the effects of soil moisture content on nodulation, nitrogen fixation, growth and yield of SJ. 2 soybean inoculated with Rhizobium japonicum. Two experiments were conducted, the first was designed to evaluate growth and nodulation of soybean. Results of this experiments revealedd that at higher soil water content (100% FC) the growth and nodulation were better than those of the soil with lower water content (40% FC). Addition of water at one day interval gave higher nodulation and better growth than those of the other treatments. Second experiment was designed to observe nitrogen fixation and soybean yield. The results of these experiments, however, revealed that treatment 5 (100% FC and with water addition at 2 days interval) gave relatively good growth, nodulation and yield of soybean, especially when labor cost is taken to consideration. It is suggested, from these experiment that, appropriate water sampling technique for growing soybean economically in these soil should be that of treatment 5.
