Distribution of potato diseases in Northern areas of Pakistan.
1995
Javed M.F.
A survey done in the Northern areas of Pakistan identified five fungal, three bacterial, six viral and one mycoplasma disease in this area. Other than these zinc deficiency, Hollow Heart, low temperature injury or internal heat necrosis, jelly end rot are also present. However, no disease seems widespread/serious in this area. It is therefore, concluded from the survey that dry and cool climate condition does not permit to spread foliage diseases on potatoes but soil diseases may become a problem, if farmers do not adapt crop rotation system and discourage plantation of uncertified seed potatoes.
