Shoot tip, stem, petiole, young leaf and root tip of Alocasia amazonica and A. chelsonii were aseptically cultured on modified Murashige and Skoog agar medium (MS), supplemented with Nitsch and Nitsch Vitamins and various concentrations of alpoha-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), and 6-furfurylamino purine (kinetin). Shoot tip of A. amazonica which were grown on modified MS medium containing 0.5 or 1.0 ppm NAA and 1.5 ppm kinetin or 1.5 ppm NAA and 0.5 ppm kinetin produced a considerable number of adventitious shoots. Callus was formed on tissue which were cultred on MS medium containing 1.0 ppm NAA. The most number of roots was found on tissue cultured on MS medium containing 0.5 ppm NAA and 1.0 ppm kinetin. Shoot tip of A. chelsonii which were grown on an MS medium containing 1.0 ppm NAA and 1.0 ppm kinetin produced adventitious shoots, and callus was found when tissues were cultured on MS media containing 0.5 ppm NAA and 1.0 ppm kinetin, 0.5 ppm NAA and 1.5 ppm kinetin, 1.5 ppm NAA and 1.0 ppm kinetin or 1.5 ppm NAA and 1.5 ppm kinetin.
