The aim of research was to study the possibility of using the storage life parameters of apple fruits, their chemical composition and meteorological conditions as criteria of shelf life modelling. The experimental data of storage of fruits of 16 apple varieties of Belarus assortment for 1971-1989 are reported. The analysis of storage duration character was made by the method of S. Wright. The modification parameter of fruits storage duration was determined by genotypic variability. Close positive correlation (r=0.70) was found between the fruits storage duration and the content of soluble dry substances. This correlation may be used as one of the criteria of fruits storage life modelling.
