In "La Canada" Experimental Station (FONAIAP), located in the Canada of Urdaneta, country of Zulia State, characterized as Very Dry Tropical Forest, with 600 mm of precipitation and average annual temperature of 280 C, an experiment was carried out in order to evaluate the content of crude protein (CP), in vitro digestibility organic matter (IVDOM), total digestible nutrients (TND) and mimosine (M) of Leucaena leucocephala submitted to variations of frecuency (35, 42 and 49 days) and height cutting (10,20 and 30 centimeters). Split-plot strips statistical design was used in the experiment in random blocks with 5 repetitions. Results obtained show that the content of PC was inferior (P < 0.05) during dry period. The season of year did not affect ( P > 0,05 ) either IVDOM and the percentage of TND, CP, IVDOM and TND percent decreased when the height cutting was increased. The effect of age was significant ( P< 0.05 ) 35 days age was found to be superior to 42 and 49 days in terms of CP, IVDOM and percentage of TND. The factors under study did not affect the content of M.

En el Campo Experimental "La Canada" (FONAIAP), ubicado en el Municipio La Canada de Urdaneta, Estado Zulia, zona de vida Bosque Muy Seco Tropical, con precipitacion promedio anual de 600 mm y temperatura media de 28 oC, se estudiaron el contenido de proteina cruda (PC), la digestibilidad in vitro de la materia organica (DIVMO), el contenido de nutrientes digestibles totales (NDT) y el contenido de mimosina (M) de la Leucaena leucocephala sometida a tres frecuencias ( 35, 42 y 49 dias) y tres alturas de corte ( 10,20 y 3o cms.). Se utilizo un diseno estadistico de Parcelas Divididas en Franjas en bloques al azar con 5 repeticiones. Los resultados mostraron que el contenido de PC fue inferior ( P< 0,05) durante el periodo seco, y la epoca del ano no afecto la DIVMO y el NDT. La PC, DIVMO y el NDT disminuyeron ( P < 0,05), siendo la edad de 35 dias superior ( P < 0,05 ) a las 42 y 49 dias para PC, DIVMO y de NDT. Los factores de estudio no afectaron el contenido de M.
